Terbium is one of the rarer "rare earth" metals; a minor component of major ores monazite and euxenite which are actively mined, especially in China, in search of just these exotic elements. Despite its poor familiarity with the public there is a strong demand for terbium in the making of LCD panels as one of its salts lights up green. Turn your screen to a full image of a jungle and the light reaching your eye has been filtered through countless atoms of this metal.

It's now time to roll out the red carpet for this metal by introducing these little well-made cubes. Highly purified terbium (99.9% to be exact) has been melted for us into a large sheet then rough sawn to oversize cubes. The supplier then has them sculpted with a high speed stylus while immersed in an electrolytic bath. It is this step that brings the very high degree of parallelism that results in corners meeting at an exact 90 degrees with laser sharp edges. The semi-finished cubes then go for a gingerly polishing step that sees them each spin in a lapping machine for hours to bring out their shine. Finally, they are engraved with a laser with their atomic number, symbol and number. They are then ready to be flown to the USA where we individually package them to get them ready for our customers.
